ffxiv boss music

Post by Weird Autumn (?) » Tue Oct 31, 2017 1:09 pm

We had this whole subsection of the forum dedicated to video games but we never had a thread about the only important thing in video games. I don't know why we let that stand for so long but we have a chance now to restart and rebuild and set right the wrongs of our past.

titan is good but sephirot feels like a more ridiculous and thus better take on the concept

Sephirot's is like Worlds Collide by Powerman 5000 mixed with NiN which is good, but I like the grimier sound mixed with the faster tempo of Titan's theme

Powerman 5000 agrees with you, at least.

Actually, it's the moogle theme that's been around for ages, it's got nothing to do with tim burton :v:

It just happens to be when it was remixed it coincidentally sounded like this is halloween since the tempo's closer, it's not actually related :twonk:

I still play lots of FFXIV. The good one's have been posted. Shiva, Sephirot, Lakshmi.

My favorite is probably Nidhogg though. The music changing for the 3 phases of the fight just makes for a great experience.

And of course...

FORWARD AND BACK AND THEN FORWARD AND BACK AND THEY GO FORWARD AND BACK AND PUT ONE FOOT FORWARD FORWARD AND BACK AND THEN FORWARD AND BACK AND THEY GO FORWARD AND BACK AND PUT ONE FOOT FORWARD FORWARD AND BACK AND THEN FORWARD AND BACK AND THEY GO FORWARD AND BACK AND PUT ONE FOOT FORWARD FORWARD AND BACK AND THEN FORWARD AND BACK AND THEY GO FORWARD AND BACK AND PUT ONE FOOT FORWARD FORWARD AND BACK AND THEN FORWARD AND BACK AND THEY GO FORWARD AND BACK AND PUT ONE FOOT FORWARD FORWARD AND BACK AND THEN FORWARD AND BACK AND THEY GO FORWARD AND BACK AND PUT ONE FOOT FORWARD FORWARD AND BACK AND THEN FORWARD AND BACK AND THEY GO FORWARD AND BACK AND PUT ONE FOOT FORWARD :twonk:

Yes. You dingus.

The part you're calling "This is halloween" is in the original ff6 song at 0:42

0:52 in the king mog song, you're actually telling me that does not sound at all like 2:01 of This is halloween meter for meter? Or any of the solo vocal parts that mimic that from This is Halloween? Or any of the other things that sound nearly the exact same structure-wise? Because there happens to be one part of the original moogle theme that sounds like this but isn't in a minor key?

There's coincidences and then there's "this has the exact same metering, vocal phrasing, refrains, and musicality as this other well-known song from a famous movie"

It's a little bit of both, I think--the melody is from the FFVI Moogle theme, but the arrangement, instrumentation, lyrics and vocals all feel very reminiscent of Danny Elfman.

That's why I said they 'ape' the song or at least the style of the song, not necessarily steal from it.

Also, I was trying to hold myself back from just posting all of the Alexander boss themes (all of them are extremely good) but seriously we need to take a moment and talk about SONIC BOOM
