Yakuza: Dead Souls is one of those games with a lot of problems. It's a weirdo non-canon spinoff of the yakuza series where a zombie apocalypse hits that ends up not feeling too out of place from the resident evil series. The game takes a 3d beat-em-up game and attempts to turn it into a 3rd person shooter, but the end result feels *wrong*. It sucks.
But i still enjoyed the game a bunch, and the music rules
This is Music of the Spheres, the musical prequel to Destiny 1. This was never released due to a dispute between Martin O'Donnell and Bungie. But instead of offering the completed work to us for a fixed price, Bungie decided to pretend it didn't exist, even though parts of it are in the actual D1 soundtrack.
Someone leaked the entire completed work online the other day as there were a few legit copies given out before Bungie decided to erase this work from history. Marty is no longer making any money off of this, as he was paid in advance, nor the other musicians involved. In fact Marty has given his blessing for people to download it.
I have a link to my Google drive there for those who want to download the entire thing.
Here is my favorite piece from the 8 part work.

I finished bravely second recently and, much like bravely default, it's good and has good music
This is partly because some of it was originally in bravely default, like this theme:

and this. Also, reminder that the final boss of this game is the pyramid from the back of the dollar bill. Yeah.

recent AGDQ run reminded me of good times
i absolutely love this song's weird balance of chillness. it sounds like it was composed to resemble japanese folk music but played back to resemble some modern-day shit you'd hear on the radio

All of Secret of Mana pretty much deserves a mention here, so instead of linking just one video I'll link an entire album. It's pretty dang good:
i have not actually played this game but these two tracks goddamn

I've never really been a huge fan of FF IX. I don't deny that it's an exceedingly well-crafted game. It just... never really resonated with me as much as some of the other games in the franchise.
I like heroic resolve/heroic spirit. Something about the idea of the hero being beaten down and at their lowest point and somehow finding the strength to rise back up and keep fighting and ultimately win just really strikes a chord in me.

This one reminds me of a combo of Resident Evil's safe room and Donkey Kong Country.
