Re: Fire Emblem Heroes: Like Pokemon But People
it's always the first unit of your first team (or leftmost unit of lefmost team if you prefer)
i pretty much reserve that team for my rep unit because they aren't especially useful on any of my other teams

Oh I didn't now there were friend codes in this game, although yeah, the friend feature doesnt do much
mine's 0530692804
Also this is my main team which at this point has duly annihilated everything you can do with one team in this game
everyone else sucks except for the armor team which is unfinished. Generally I like to use julia or arvis as my av person

What brave unit did you pick, perry? Brave ike and brave lyn are both insane, the other two are pretty good but not to the same degree.
Brave lyn is probably tied with reinhardt for best unit in the game, actually. You can win 90% of things by using reinhardt/brave lyn + a dancer

Yo my code is 6314514687
I'm too lazy to post my main teams and I move units around a lot anyway. Notable folks I have:
Ayra
Tana with Steady Stance for 40 defense on enemy phase
Camilla with Distant Counter for killing mages (Reinhardt specifically mostly)
Brave Lyn with a Brave Bow. Braver Lyn
Azura
Goth Azura
Tiki (Adult) for blasting archers with counterattacks

Re: Fire Emblem Heroes: Like Pokemon But People
I wish i had that many cool units but tbh brave ike and reinhardt do 90% of the work
for the unitiated reinhardt is good because of his special tome, dire thunder, which hits twice. it's like a brave weapon except a spell. also he has a horse. so the upshot is that he can zoom around the map oneshotting all red units, without taking any damage because he hits twice before they get to counter (he also oneshots all lance units if you give him lancebreaker)
if you team him with a dancer he can either oneshot 2 units a turn or move back out of range after killing a dude and use reposition to pull the dancer with him
e; also if you got a friend request from 'shepard' thats me

Re: Fire Emblem Heroes: Like Pokemon But People
I picked Brave Lyn at the start and yup she hits like a truck
Then I pulled 5 star Durcas on one of my free pulls and he's now up there with Brave Lyn in the complete and utter anihilation department

Michalis grand hero battle is up, and is super easy
You would think sword units on infernal could break brave ike but this is not actually the case. He killed them all while everyone else stood behind him and watched
so then I did a comedy quest team:

I guess because blue mage and/or also few people have actually played FE5 and just project the meme personality of the arena braggart on him even though he isn't like that at all in FE5.

Reinhardt's hands-to-magic ratio is directly inverse to Trixie's ego-to-magic ratio.

PSA: If you upgrade a weapon with the forge (not evolve, like with killing edge -> slaying edge) It's non-transferable. I wasted my first staff upgrade because of that little detail.

Re: Fire Emblem Heroes: Like Pokemon But People
Apparently so. I upgraded Slow+ to Slow+ (enemies cannot counterattack) on mist to give to serra, and then couldn't inherit it. Since I obviously wasn't going to use mist (MEGA trasho stats) I had to have serra inherit the regular slow+ instead.

Re: Fire Emblem Heroes: Like Pokemon But People
I am definitely still in way over my head with all the ways to upgrade and improve units. Like, it's annoying that the game doesn't tell me if I try to merge two units for better stats and it's not possible why exactly it isn't. Also, can merging units and/or upgrading them to 5 stars compensate for potentially bad IVs or do I just really have to keep pulling the same unit for the right IVs? Also also, how much do the right IVs even matter?

Re: Fire Emblem Heroes: Like Pokemon But People
IVs don't really matter too much outside of exploiting what little advantages could be had in high level Arena play. And those advantages aren't as relevant to the units themselves and the skills on them. A minus-Atk Reinhardt can still one-shot 85% of the cast as well as a plus-Attack Reinhardt will; only a very small handful of units could survive an attack only from the -Atk version, and a couple more could be built to do so. However, generally speaking, up to this point Spd and Atk have been prioritized in the meta of the game, so getting a version that's, say, +HP -Atk is completely un-useable compared against a neutral version.
Merging doesn't really compensate for bad IVs, since the merging cap (40+10) provides a meager four extra points to every stat compared to an unmerged version of the same IVs. Comparatively, a bane stat equates to three points less than neutral for a vast majority of characters and stats at level 40. There are a couple units that somehow manage to squeeze a fourth point in a booned stat (I'm pretty sure it's only HP that can do that, though), but it's incredibly rare. Since merging increases two stats at a time in the same order (the two highest untouched base stats compared at level 1, repeated), it can help eke out a slight advantage where most characters want it (aside from HP, which is the highest base stat for literally everyone and is always increased at +1, +3, +6, and +8) if their base Atk or Spd at level 1 is the highest stat among of the four remaining. Though again, this is purely for optimum-level Arena play.
IVs can't change via merging nor promoting. The only freely available option is summoning a new version of the hero. However, when offered, units earned through Tempest Trials, Special maps, or quests always have neutral IVs, so there is some leeway to mitigating bad IVs.

Fae proves me wrong. Not only can units lose four points on bane stats, but it can hit any stat, not just HP.Davyinatoga wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2017 11:01 amThere are a couple units that somehow manage to squeeze a fourth point in a booned stat (I'm pretty sure it's only HP that can do that, though), but it's incredibly rare.

Re: Fire Emblem Heroes: Like Pokemon But People
Thanks a bunch for the writeup! So unless I wanna play a bunch of Arena on Expert, I should be okay with looking more at skill inheritance and other stuff and less at stats?
Also, I still wanna know why I can't merge my two Sullys because again, the game sadly doesn't gimme any other helpful info other than a big red X.

Re: Fire Emblem Heroes: Like Pokemon But People
Arena really isn't too hard. As long as your team is all 5*, built in a way that makes sense, and played intelligently, you shouldn't have any trouble beating arenas even on expert. The actual challenge in arena is generally not winning the matches (the AI is really stupid, and enemy arena teams don't benefit from the inflated stats that make, say, lunatic chain challenges hard) but in winning the matches seven times in a row, on expert, with very few if any deaths. Each death reduces your score, and at the highest tiers, you need a near-perfect score to have a chance of advancing up a tier. Anyway, you don't have to worry about all that for at least a few weeks, since you're still at low ranks. And you certainly don't need optimal IVs to win- in an interesting coincidence, 3 out 4 of the members of my best team have neutral IVs.
I'd actually say the most important place for optimal IVs would be high-end lunatic chain challenges, squad assault, and the infernal difficulty of the various bound/grand hero battles. In those modes the enemy stats are so ridiculously inflated that you need both color advantage and a very powerful unit to kill them in one round, and you generally need to avoid deaths, either because it's required by the mission or because you have 4-9 more maps to beat after the one you're doing. Even then, you can make do with proper strategy.

do you by chance have the sacrifice sully favorited? it won't let you do anything to get rid of units that are favorited until you bring up their profile and remove itPerrydotto wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2017 11:30 amAlso, I still wanna know why I can't merge my two Sullys because again, the game sadly doesn't gimme any other helpful info other than a big red X.
