So, I've been chugging along with my daily writing. Not going fast enough to keep pace with other people, but things are moving, at least. I just completed chapter 2 of my story today, with the whole thing totaling about 3750 words so far, which is over a thousand more words than I ever managed on previous attempts on this story. I'm still fighting the urge to just up and delete everything because it's awful, as that's how most of my past attempts have ended up. I'm doing my best not to do that this time, though who knows how long I'll hold up.

I don't have any idea when what I have will be in a showable state, though. My motivation in writing is to make something that someone else will enjoy, but at the same time I'm terrified of someone reading my work and not enjoying it. Still, I'm happy that I made it this far at all, and hopefully things will continue to work for me.

So, update time. I finished the (first draft of) the first story arc! It comes out to just over 10K words total, so about a fifth of the length of your average novel, but this is just a start for me to build off of. I'm still half convinced that it's all trash, but hopefully revisions and maybe (if I can beat back my anxiety enough) showing it to people will build some confidence. And hell, even if it is trash, at least I fucking did something with myself. So, go me, I guess!

So, recently I was informed of the existence of a drop-in center in my town (basically a free support center for people with mental illness), and I saw on their calendar that they ran groups like a creative writing group and a book club. I went to the creative writing group today. It was a pretty simple thing, pick a prompt out of a long list and write a short piece on it. I chose to write about a dragon, and I got two pages out of it. Admittedly, it was pretty heavily inspired by Weird Autumn's dragon story, but it was a nice exercise, nonetheless. I had to read it out loud, which I am terrible at, but the people there really liked what I wrote. It was a nice confidence boost, and I plan on going back there for future events. So, I went out, socialized, wrote something, and shared it! A pretty successful day if I do say so myself.

I recently decided to end one of my comics. I'll admit that drawing the last strip made me feel emotional (I've been running it for 5 years), but at the same time, it does feel refreshing having a bit more time on my life, including being able to focus on my remaining comic more. Even made a pitch bible for an animated series.

Still some sadness ending it, though. Hoping that feeling will go away soon.

I've been having good vibes lately. I think I'm in a good place with cartooning; I had my comics appear in national publications, one of my webcomics was picked up by a major syndicate, and I think my current comic is improving 3 years in, with new readers still coming in.

My current goal is to aim higher, pretty much!
