Re: PYF: Post things that Happened!
The local alumni magazine did an interview with me, where I had pictures taken. I've always been camera shy, but overtime I've been working towards improving how I look on camera (even actually *gasp* smiling), and I think I did okay with this shoot.
Although damn, holding my breathe for so long can be a pain
(also, one of my cats interrupted the interview, so they took pics of him as well. My cat's gonna be a star!)

I decided to make some effort into looking somewhat nice with my fashion. I have zero fashion sense (something people who met me can attest), but I got good tips from friends.
...so per their recommendations, I bought khaki jeans. Hey, I have to start somewhere

Re: PYF: Post things that Happened!
So, I've been on medical leave from my job at Walmart for a couple months now, and I've been dreading going back. That place just sucks your soul, and honestly it's just a bit too much for me. As an alternative to that, I've started poking around on job listing websites and seeing what's available in my area. I even sent in a few applications here and there, not expecting to get any response. However, I did get a response from one! I have an interview tomorrow with a local organization that provides services and programs for people with disabilities as a mentor, meaning I'll be working directly with the clients and helping them. Outside of computer programming work, this is the best job I can think of for my experience. I've really enjoyed working with children and people with disabilities in the past, and this job won't have me working nights or working completely alone, either. Fingers crossed that the interview goes well!

Re: PYF: Post things that Happened!
IT. WAS. FANTASTIC.
Morales was the Hamilton in our production, and he was supposed to be in the Chicago cast as well, so we might have seen the same person!
The way it just flowed without distinct scene transitions, the way the actors were choreographed to move from role to role, I could just kiss all of them. I normally don't want to give a standing ovation, but this time, I had no problem with it.
I still think that "Waitress" was better, but this was AMAZING.
The advantage to buying season tickets to a theatre means that you get into Hamilton for under box office prices.

SDCC approved my Professional Creators application!
This doesn't guarantee I can get the "Pro" badge, but it does allow me some privilege if I decide to go to SDCC or Wondercon in the future

I'm going to spend this weekend with two people who are very dear to me, and celebrate my birthday. I can't wait.
I've gained a lot of great real-life friends this past year. I feel like I'm finally able to bond with people I meet in the flesh versus online, and it's going really well. I'm finally starting to feel like myself since I started HRT, and that definitely shows in how people perceive and treat me. More confidence, less awkwardness. It's so great to recognize this in the feedback I get from other people.
More and more people don't just accept me for who I am, but even like me for it. It feels so alien. I love it.

Re: PYF: Post things that Happened!
So here's some fun news from this side of Europe. First of all, we're in the final stages of buying a house, just some paperwork that needs finishing before we can start the big move. That's all good and well, but there's something else going on.
Turns out my wife is pregnant. She tested positive both yesterday and today. It's still very, very early but I'm still recovering from the idea that I'm gonna be a dad.

Today we got approved, so now all we need is proof of renter's insurance and we cab sign the lease. Hopefully we'll be moved in next week.

My mom got her test results back from the endocrinologist (finally). She’s still a little low on calcium and iron, but she already gets treatments for the iron every year and supplememts will take care of the calcium. His opinion was that someone screwed up at the hospital, and that there is no way they would ever admit fault. Also, her cataract surgeries went really well and she’ll be getting new glasses this week.

Re: PYF: Post things that Happened!
Glad that things are looking up for your mom! I know first hand how awful it is to be waiting for test results for a loved one. Shit sucks.
On my end, I actually finished a chapter of something I'm writing! I've been trying to write something for well over a year now, and I've actually hit upon something that I think is going to work. Sure it's just 2.5k words, but it's something. I'm not really ready to show it to anyone yet, though, because I don't want to show off something that's all setup without actually getting to show off the core premise of the story along with it. Plus I'm sure it's trash and nobody in their right mind would ever want to read it. When it gets to that point, I guess I'll just have to suck it up and have to suck it up and have someone read it. Then I can fix stuff if I don't die of embarrassment first.

All progress is good. most people are never going to write 2500 consecutive words in their lives after they graduate. It still represents work and effort, and you have a right to be proud that you pushed through your doubts and accomplished something.Perpetual Motion wrote: ↑Sun Nov 25, 2018 12:02 amGlad that things are looking up for your mom! Super glad for you both, Madeline and PM Progress is progress, and that counts for a lot. Don't put yourself down. It's fine to feel super confident but you should still give yourself credit at least. Self-appreciation is like a muscle - Keep doing it to train it up. It does get a bit easier over time.

My wife had her second ultrasound today to see how our offspring's development is going, and I came along. The gynaecologist said everything looks perfect as far as she can tell at this point, and we got to both hear and see the baby's heart beating. Such an amazing feeling.

I've talked about it on the Discord, but back in October I resolved to actually, seriously start losing weight.
Three months later, I'm down nearly forty pounds. Today at Subway one of the cashiers who said she almost didn't recognize me because I'd lost so much.

Re: PYF: Post things that Happened!
The past few months were definitely stressful for me, with multiple projects on my belt (including working on two books simultaneously, plus freelance and other obligations). I have no regret for those projects and I'm proud of it, but oof, it took a lot out of me.
So for 2019, I vowed to not give a fuck, be more self-indulgent and just relax. And MAN, 2 days in I already feel better about myself. Obviously I still have commitments and obligations, but I'm not as stressed now, at least.

This week I agreed to help my old college professor out with an in-class animated short for his class. The students are gonna work on putting together a short, simple animation. I will get paid for this as well!
Not sure how this will come out, but it's pretty exciting!

Re: PYF: Post things that Happened!
So finally good news regarding our big house purchase. We finally got all the paperwork finished with the notary, put in the registration for the city the house is in, and just have to go back to the bank one last time to start the mortgage.
It's taken a hell of a long time, but finally we can start packing up for our big move.
In baby news: All is going well, we might find out if we have a boy or a girl in a few days.
