Broodstill is on the edge of monster country, surrounded by infested tiles. It's sure to be the target of the next attack.
So Suthille, Thusette and Audiana start fortifying it as best they can.
Meanwhile, our power couple have a side quest of their own ...

There's always enemies to disturb a moment, isn't there?
Some creature, looking very annoyed, comes stampeding into the room. It has the form of a big angry bull, but composed of rock and sprouted with unknown fungus. These creatures are associated with the Deepist faction, about whom more later.
The Mushrox makes a big entrance, but Yovia withstands its charge and Gurieta dodges it.
Not even this beast is a challenge for our pair of heroes!
They'll return with souvenirs for their friends. For Suthille, a magic charm she can hold in her off hand to boost spell damage.
For Thusette, a sledgehammer worthy of a warrior. Who needs a shield when you can have this?

Anyone else have a personal side quest to get out of their system? Any dark secret or whimsical wanderlust to resolve? No? We're good for now? All right.
Because the Gorgons have boiled forth and are on the march.
As predicted they're on their way to Broodstill, but our heroes have just finished maxing out the fortifications there. Repelling the Gorgons should be easy enough.
And I judge we have enough time to visit Smithbog Windworks, clear it and return before they arrive.
Let's see how the full team of five performs!

The whole gang's here. Smithbog Windworks is infested with Gorgons, and we're the exterminators.
They don't take long to find! Three tormented critters right there in the foyer. A decade ago they'd have been a problem, but today's Swans easily sweep them aside.
Suthille is now so potent a mystic that she can create fire anywhere, including directly on enemy squares. This is really a mercy killing for that poor deer.
Bogmoors and bears are still dangerous, but even they can't get far with two mystics and an archer striking from a distance. Audiana takes out a Bogmoor with a ricocheting rock.
Honestly a full-strength party is overkill at this point.

Capturing Smithbog Windworks buys time but there's still plenty of map to clear. More pressing, though, we've got an army of Gorgons en route to Broodstill.
While we could send the whole gang, it feels more time-efficient to split the group: Yovia, Gurieta and Thusette going to the battle at Broodstill while Suthille and Audiana fix up the Windworks.

All these and a lot more shamble onto the scene.
Befuddled by our stealth, they wander the map looking for something to kill. Then, when the time is right ...
And the battle is joined!
When a Gorgon enters the barn looking to kill Thusette, a group of villagers pop out of hiding and hack it into rubbery bits. But two of them in turn are gored by a Rager's tusks (RIP Edsun Prickle and Edmae Larkin).
Thusette avenges them in the most direct manner.

Meanwhile outside Yovia and Gurieta, our unstoppable power couple, have been cleaning filth with the help of regular archer barrages. The Gorgons barely even have time to register what hit them.
It's not long before they're all dead, though it'll be some time before the soil is clean again.
Broodstill is safe for now, and although two brave townsfolk were lost, our heroes are uninjured and ready to push into enemy territory. Time's running out, and there's a Seaspear to find and lives to avenge.

Suthille and Audiana finish up their work at Smithbog Windworks, and another tile is reclaimed for decent hardworking folk with normal hair, red blood and skeletal systems.
Then they're on their way to join up with the others. Kettlewolf Forest is fully scouted and the next Gorgon lair discovered.
A battle is brewing at Sword Hedge.

The clearing of Sword Hedge goes by the book. Gurieta isn't even present because she's scouting elsewhere; we don't really need all five members for ordinary fights like this. If the Swans get a sixth member, we might consider breaking into two parties of three.
Audiana's around, but you can't see her because she's keeping her distance. She's still a novice mystic using a stick for a wand, and it'll take time before she catches up with the group. She still does her part by magically hurling rocks and such.
But most of the work is done by Yovia and Thusette ...
... as well as Suthille just straight-up immolating suckers.

That victory bought us a bit more time, but there's still another Gorgon-infested tile before we reach where the Seaspear is.
Additionally, there's a tile to the north infested with Deepists (you can see that its thorny-veiny is a different color). Clearing it won't earn us more time, but if we have enough time left we'll make a day trip.
And so, with 100 days on the clock the team moves on to Twynlen Waterworks and another Gorgon lair.

A cute li'l Water Spirit has found its way onto the battlefield! If someone catches it, they get a wish granted.
Priorities, though. Audiana uses her magic to borrow a lamp post's flame, shooting it toward a Rager. Thusette follows up and bashes its tormented head in.
Suthille, who's been in the mystic game for years, doesn't even need a fire source and can create flame out of thin air. Gorgons aren't quite as tough when they've been set ablaze, and Gurieta and Yovia make quick work of it.
Our front line moves up and our mystics just keep setting everyone on fire. It's chaos, but the good kind.
More Gorgons behind this door. Everyone ready?
Racing ahead to engage some mutated deer, Thusette finds herself within reach of the Water Spirit! It's as good as caught!
A spirit can upgrade a weapon with elemental power (which causes special effects on a crit) or it can be released for a free LP.
