Oof. Police Academy meets Starfleet Academy.

It's a weird tonal shift in comparison to the rest that has been established. It might not be a bad thing to have something different, but this might be too dfferent? Good? Bad? I don't know.

The TNG Lower Decks episode was undeniably better than this trailer.

Mixed feelings on this one after watching that trailer. On the one hand, it looks and feels like, "Star Trek as done by the guys behind Rick & Morty" which is... very much not traditional Star Trek.

On the other hand, given that the last few attempts at a live-action Star Trek were Discovery and Picard... I'm more than willing to give this a shot just on the off chance that it's actually not terrible.

Should've saved Pirate Picard for this show.

I'm still enjoying both those series.

As for Lower Decks, I'll wait and see. Gonna give it a fair shot.

First episode came out today.

I liked it. It's pretty funny, and it plays with the Trek tropes well.

Episode 2 was less awful. Dare I say that it might be good? It is such an abandonment of the classic TNG/DS9/VOY Trek in tone that's still a struggle to make me like the show. But it has potential if it were less krass.

I enjoyed episode 2. I liked episode 1, but episode 2 turned it down a notch, and it helped.

Episode 1 is up for free on YouTube.

Episode 4 is a HUuuuUuuuUUuuUUUUgE improvement to all of its previous episodes.
This is the first episode that feels something that resembles Star Trek in a way.

Yeah, I agree. The show has come to a stride that is genuinely good. Too bad that the first episodes were so unpleasant with its bluntness.
I'm glad that that was toned down and has become a good parody of Star Trek itself on an almost "Spaceballs"-y level.
I appreciate it makes fun of the "sending a dog to the farm" trope and flipped it twice on the head from two different angles.

It's never going to be TNG, but it did find its stride. The first few episode were really dire because they mistook "talk really fast, yell really loud, and say lots of Star Trek words" for writing, but they eventually got their act together, and it's okay as a "goofing on Star Trek" thing.

It still has its ups and downs, but that's better than the other recent Star Treks, so... mission accomplished, I guess?
