Only Homestar Runner would do an entire music video and song about loading screens.
This kinda became a time capsule of the bygone days of the internet. When was the last time you saw a loading screen like this?

Now I just get a spinner on a black screen waiting for YouTube or Twitch to load.

Bubs got a huge obsessive fanbase by turning himself into a vegetable before it was cool.
And had a food truck!
That dude was really ahead of his time.

If you wondering about the Humidibot reference, he's one of the newer Homestar "characters" that was introduced when the series kinda-sorta came out of retirement. He was, indeed, introduced during the fan costume commentary.

This made me rewatch the old Costume commentaries from the past few years, because apparently I missed them. Man, lots of gems in them!
Also, I'm impressed by how there are people who wear EVEN THE MOST OBSCURE Homestar references. Like this one 58 seconds in.
There was another one where somebody dressed up as a version of the character featured in the sketchbook and not in the actual cartoon. Homestar fans are something, man

I mentioned that Homestar aged well for the most part, so here's an example of something that DIDN'T age well (sorry for poor video quality, but this one isn't up on the main Homestar YT page):
The part about Homestar expecting "oiled up Bill Cosby", specifically. This was in reference to Cosby being a spokesman for Jell-O, but nowadays the joke has a different meaning

This one always cracks me up, especially Strong Mad being genuinely startled when Strong Sad said "parakeet".
(it's also funnier when you realize that Sanka is a DECAF).

Happy (American)Thanksgiving! I'll be out of town all day, so have a couple Thanksgiving specials I always loved.
Honorable mention goes to the King of Town's order in this email, which I've wanted to try ever since:
Here are a couple recipes for inspiration if any of you want to take a crack at it with your leftovers; personally I'm holding out for when Babish does an episode on it.

Re: How do you type with boxing gloves on? [Homestar thread]
These cartoons are all good. The Float Parade in particular is a laugh riot, with Coach Z apparently being a creep to Marzipan off-screen ("That's TWO strikes, Coach Z!"), Bubs' float, Strong Mad stealing his concession stand ("Serves him right, then!")
Yeah, I'm hoping Babish would tackle a food from Homestar someday. One in particular I'd like to see him try to make is the SBLOUNSKCHED! Bar, even if making it exactly the way Strong Bad described it would be physically impossible (not like this stopped Babish from trying, though).

man, i forgot how much of strong bad was part of my childhood lexicon
'look who thinks he's clever dan' from this one.
'shut it up, shut it up you' was a common way to end a conversation with my siblings, with the natural response back being 'shut it up, shut it up me.'

Re: How do you type with boxing gloves on? [Homestar thread]
There was a whole thread on Tumblr once about people picking up expressions from Homestar. Let's see if I can find it...
OK this was the first Google result and it's longer than the version I saw so close enough
As for me, personally, I've got more than I can keep track of, but the main one that comes to mind is that whenever I want to psych myself up to do another round of some video game, I'm like "Oh have you heard the latest news I heard the latest news and it was that you could do one more ONE MORE!" Also I'm pretty sure I've called pegasi "wing-a-ling ponies" at least once on this very forum. If not, I should have.
EDIT: Oh, and "So hang on hang on hang on hang on hang on." from "The Bet" has come up sometimes.

Re: How do you type with boxing gloves on? [Homestar thread]
Lately I've been using the word "pretendous" for whenever I see something that's ridiculous. From an Easter Egg where Strong Bad hooked his energy-sucking boots to the King of Town's power outlet, causing his electricity bill to become, well, pretendous.

That was one of the earliest Homestar toons, where Coach Z tried to say "job".
I love that, in later appearances, they just exaggerated Coach Z's speech to ridiculous levels

"So old-school they tore the school down" is still a good lyric and I'm surprised it hadn't already been used by someone more famous when that came out.

Re: How do you type with boxing gloves on? [Homestar thread]
Since it's only a week left til Decemberween, here's my personal favorite aforementioned-holiday-related cartoon on the site:
The Homsar cameo is my favorite part. I love when they have visual non-sequiturs like that.
And here's the Teen Girl Squad obligatory Decemberween episode, because it's been on my mind lately. Fun fact: It was originally posted in July alongside some other mini cartoons as part of a "Decemberween in July" event.

Re: How do you type with boxing gloves on? [Homestar thread]
FYI the actual Homestar Runner website has now been updated to run Ruffle, an experimental tool that makes Flash files playable without Flash. This means that not only are the cartoons (and, eventually, games) being preserved with all the clickable bits intact, they're also viewable on iPads in full retina-screen crispness. I don't think even the Mac version of Flash Player ever supported retina screens; I'm pretty sure I tried it out at a Best Buy once and all it did was upscale it.
It's pretty cool seeing these old cartoons at such a high resolution, but egad, they need to recompile them with higher-quality audio. I can barely make out what they're saying sometimes. I can't believe we put up with that for ten years.
