Generally, if they're close to the Canadian border they might accept it, but the farther you go the less likely it is.

Also, grouping strips by theme sounds like a good idea! I know the strip is super wordy, so I didn't want to overwhelm anyone.

Canadian dollars are a separate currency with a separate value. It's be like trying to pay with euros. Sure, someone could go to a bank and exchange it for US dollars, but it's a pain and most places won't do it unless they get a lot of Canadian business.

Even so, I always seem to have a Canadian 5 cent piece, because they get mixed up in American change pretty often. No idea how they travel so far south.

For whatever weirdass reason, Canadian coins all have the exact same colors and sizes* as their US counterparts. (And with the exception of the Loonie, they even have the same common names.) Even vending machines can be fooled sometimes. But the Canadian dollar has always been worth at least slightly less, to the point where paperback books that have their prices printed right on the cover also list their higher "CAN" price. So it's easy to end up with one from time to time, and also easy to pawn them off on someone else, but eventually someone has to take them somewhere to be exchanged for US money and eat the loss.

*within less than a milimeter in diameter; relative thicknesses also follow the same pattern

Just wondering, how many of you thought the collar on Tommy's shirt is a bowtie?

On a similar note, Japanese 10 yen coins have similar shape as US quarters (although 10 yen is mostly copper) and certain machines would accept it, thinking they're quarters even though 10 yen is only worth about 10 cents, give or take.

I know this for reasons :-I
