In addition, Patton Oswalt and "Weird Al" Yankovic will reprise their roles as "Quibble Pants" and "Cheese Sandwich," respectively, in the upcoming season, which also will feature new original songs and new characters.
The animated series, produced by Allspark Animation, also will air its 200th episode April 20, with Twilight Sparkle and her big brother, Shining Armor, pitting their wits against each other to settle a long-standing sibling rivalry score.
...
In the back-to-back season premiere episodes, titled "The Beginning of the End," Princess Celestia and Princess Luna decide to retire and hand off the ruling of Equestria to Twilight Sparkle and her friends, which sends Twilight into a tailspin of self-doubt. Meanwhile, an ancient villain bands together a legion of nefarious characters to conquer all of Equestria, challenging Twilight Sparkle and the rest of the Mane 6 to step in and save the day.
There's some odd audio cutting with the princesses' lines that almost certainly means some sort of fake-out in this trailer, even if it's minor.
Also, this is p. adorable. Take Your Daughter To Work Day?
Serpentine! Serpentine!

Mmm, brainwashed pony soldiers.
I was wondering if Celestia and Luna retiring is just a ruse to fake out the bad guys and make them think taking over Equestria will be easy.

If four of them are Tara Strong, Ashleigh Ball, Andrea Libman, and Tabitha St. Germain, who's the fifth? Cathy Weseluck or Nicole Oliver?

I would assume it's Nicole Oilver, with all due regard to Cathy.
Or it could be Kelly Sheridan.
j/k although I like Kelly very much as Glimmy.

It has to be Cathy Weseluck. And that's not my Celestia pessimism talking. Spike's been a main character since the beginning, and I just can't imagine it being anyone else.

Uprooted episode 3
"The Young Six respond to a magical summons from the Tree of Harmony, only to learn it has been destroyed."

I guess the question is who summoned them if the tree was destroyed, unless the Twilight representation we saw in WLB somehow survived.
I admit I'm kind of looking forward to the Yona ep, she's grown on me since last season and it should be cute.
Smoulder's brother should be an interesting one, it would be a twist if it turned out to be Garble. I wouldn't mind if he turned out to be not a bad guy in the end.
Frenemies sounds good. Looking forward to seeing who's in the legion.

Patton Oswalt's wife and daughter are doing the voices in the Quibble Pants episode apparently.
Yona episode sounds like fun.
More Smoulder and Spike is welcome.
Don't really care about the Frenemies episode. I have no interest in the show's lackluster villains at this point.

Dragon kingdom with Fluts and Zephyr Breeze is going to be a weird mix of characters.
EDIT: Wait what, Smoulder is female? My world is shaken. That VA always sounded male to me.

Looks like it's Cathy Weseluck after all.

That's cool. Spike's been there since Day 1, he deserves it.

Further information on the 200th episode:
So all the actresses will get a "Story by" credit, with Nicole Dubuc and Josh Haber fleshing their ideas out into script form.
I hate that I have to keep making shity posts about this subject, but damn am I worried about the finale.
Are you still holding off on watching it, or any of the show, before the fandom tells you whether the finale was good or not? If so, you're really not going to get a personally meaningful ending, no matter how it goes.
Edit to clarify: In my experience with the fandom at large, the voices that get heard the most are the loudest and angriest. Unless there's someone out there whose views have consistently gone exactly with yours and you are able to tune the rest of the fandom out, I feel you'd mainly be hearing from those who disliked it and the haters who have been shitting on the show since the end of S1/the end of S3/the ponyless year between S4 and S5 (pick one).
And if you are still watching, I apologize for jumping to conclusions; I thought I'd once read you saying something to the effect of that you'd rather wait for the end first.
*grumble* more alluding to Celestia’s and Luna’s departure *grumble*

I have accepted they'll get captured and defeated by Grogar then leave. They're not getting some grand sacrifice, or a triumphant boat into the west, their labors complete. The writers just don't care about these two characters.
