speaking of the something awful thread, I'm rofling at the people who take anything that happens in the ending at 100% face value with no hint of metaphor or twist and expecting dumb undertale fanwank stuff from the shitty dog who for the past few hours pretty consistently did better than that.

I should relisten to the end credits theme and pay close attention to the lyrics sometime, there were a few lines that stood out to me as probably foreshadowing and possibly slightly sinister.

When the light is running low
And the shadows start to grow
And the places that you know
Seem like fantasy
There's a light inside your soul
That's still shining in the cold
With the truth
The promise in our hearts
Don't forget
I'm with you in the dark
Most of this is pretty broad and doesn't strike me as any kind of direct foreshadowing, but the last line immediately jumped out to me. I'd definitely wager that "I" refers to someone very specific, and given the post-credits scene, I'm willing to bet it's exactly who you'd assume.

Well, there's that one dialogue trigger in Sans' basement where the photo album also contains a photo of 3 smiling faces and has the words "Don't forget" written on it, so I wouldn't discount the idea of foreshadowing just yet.
I'm also wondering if the blueprints and the broken machine in the basement are also the evil plan + machine that you ended up constructing in this game.

Hey, uh, just a heads up, if you haven't started Deltarune yet, you may wish to go back up C:\Users\(your name)\AppData\Local\Undertale\ if you haven't done so already.
If you have started Deltarune... I don't know if it's gone for everyone, but it's gone for me.
EDIT: Also, vague posting about a bonus:
All the steps we take, all the moves we make
All the pain at stake
I see the chaos for everyone
Who are we? What can we do?

Nothing there changed for me, but then again I had my save file backed up from different playthroughs and re-instated them after I read that Deltarune might be connected with those somehow, so maybe that mattered?
I played Deltarune after putting those save files back, if that helps.

Do you remember what point your restored UT file was at? My UT file would have definitely been in the epilogue, so I'm wondering if that's why.

Beat this earlier. Some tips:
You need some good healing items - the Clubs Sandwich and Top Cake/Spin Cake are pretty important for providing full team heals. Seam's shop sells items with guaranteed 70HP heals, or you can take your chances with the bake sale items.
If you're going for the pacifist option, keeping your tension points as high as possible is a requirement. You want to be able to use the 50% TP action as much as possible rather than the 20%. The 20% can provide some boosts including a full team heal for ~35HP, but it can also make your life worse. (If the gauge is around 40% and someone needs a Ralsei heal, then 20% -> Defend -> Heal is doable).
If you're going for the violent option, I can't really help you.
Near misses are also pretty important for keeping the TP gauge high - as well as helping end attacks faster (?).
Beyond this, it's pretty much practice dodging and luck.

I liked this a lot better than I did Undertale, perhaps because of the fact that "Your Choices Don't Matter" removed the feeling that the game was trying to trick or cheat me out of content the way undertale ended up doing. Or maybe my love of goth gator girls overwhelmed my distaste. Hard to say.
Edit: it was also a lot more original than Undertale, it stole more from broader tropes, it wasn't the "What if Cave Story was an RPG?" lite ripoff that Undertale was.

On Friday, Toby Fox tweeted about the people who helped him make this game. This tweet stood out to me:
Here are those original card designs.

Update: I have begun playing Deltarune
And now I remember why I never played Undertale and instead watched everything online
I absolutely suck ass at bullet dodging holy hell

Maybe it was just the muscle memory coming back, but I found DR a lot less challenging than my first playthrough of UT, mainly due to Ralsei heals and being able to act and spare on the same turn. I think I may have used a maximum of one or two healing items through the whole main playthrough (one of them likely on that long screen in the forest with the winged thing that throws stars at you, I'm really bad at dodging those). Even then, no one in the party went down until
In particular, the King didn't seem anywhere near as challenging as Asgore, as I distinctly remember seeing the "You tell Asgore he's killed you more times than you can count" message on my first playthrough- though granted, that in part may have been due to still trying to find a peaceful solution for longer than I should have.

Asgore is harder because his fight isn't an endurance test, and the longer the fight goes on, the faster and harder his bullet patterns get. The King has more interesting attacks, but they don't really get difficult until the last one in his fixed pattern. Of course Jevil is there for people itching for a challenge, and I'm sure that the bosses will continue to get harder the more chapters we get into Deltarune.

To compare him to Undertale bosses, the King felt somewhere around Papyrus in terms of difficulty. This game was a bit too long to be capped off by someone only at Toriel's level (or at least as she was when she purposefully held back).
With this game's theme being that your choices don't matter, I wonder if the rest of the bosses will have easier options for beating them as Undertale's did, or if you'll have to fight your way through all of them.

I managed to get through it without a game over, but then again I'd learned from undertale the best option is just to load up your inventory with as much healing items as you can.

I got noticeably better at it with practice but projectile dodging is still the bane of my existence
Funnily enough the game itself also didn't really grab me as such so idk if I'll even bother finishing it. It's okay I guess. Makes me happy I didn't pay money for Undertale because I get this feeling my reaction to actually playing it woulda been about the same

Speaking of the Toriel fight, during the Susie vs. Lancer fight, did anyone else attempt to intentionally knock Susie out as the only potential peaceful solution? I assume things play out the same regardless of whether you try to do that or not, but I'm curious.

Yeah, it's impossible. Lancer's attacks eventually start avoiding you.

Hey, so a little thing, but:
You can catch up with the crown that falls off the Checker boss after the fight:
And it has unique dialogue:
1st line: "Thar she blows..."
2nd line:

Another fun little thing: apparently there's a hidden speedrun mode in the game. If you immediately use Kris's bed to go back to sleep instead of going to school, you'll wake up in the dark world, skipping the intro. You'll also find a "wrist protector" on the ground when you wake up. Its description reads "even in a rush, you need to protect your wrist." and what it does is allow you to scroll through dialog by simply holding C, rather than having to hurt your wrist mashing the button instead.
Toby Fox is amazing.

But wouldn't a true speedrun include the whole game, not just the dark world?

No, it's a cutscene skip, and those are normally accepted.
The additional item might mean there are separate categories, but probably not.

I've only had Ralsei for a day and a half but if anything was to happen to him I'd kill everyone in this room and then myself.
