The finale was superb. More please.... Oh no. It was the season finale. It feels like the season started not very long ago.

Naked Time
Fantastic finale (though I wasn't feeling the cliffhanger).

Re: Space. The Funnest Frontier?
The new animated Star Trek series "Prodigy" is out.
It proves instantly with the first episode it's better than the latest live-action series.
The first episode was genuinely good although I'm not 100 % behind the characters yet but it may change in the next episodes quickly.
It's engaging. It's fun. It's suspenseful.

Re: Space. The Funnest Frontier?
Barely in it so far.
It seems like a pretty decent kids' Star Wars show. I'm not sure how a Starfleet vessel wound up in the middle of all this.

Janeway popped up right at the end of the episode. So it's still a mystery how good or evil this Janeway is.

Re: Space. The Funnest Frontier?
Prodigy was pretty good. It's tough not to see it as a Star Wars Rebels wannabe, but it is a Star Wars Rebels wannabe.
My main issue is the main character. He comes off like every generic kids show lead, and his design looks like a reject from Ready Player One.
Gwyn kind of has the same design problem, but she at least seems more interesting as a character. Like bog rock girl and our Medusan, and Murf is the best.

Re: Space. The Funnest Frontier?
Yeah. Purple spiky hair guy was too cocky and overconfident for my taste. I REALLY hope he falls flat on his face and gets a major attitude correction. He is way too much into the Sonic territory for the show's own good.
In Star Wars Rebels Ezra Bridger was similar but he was charming in the Disney's Aladdin way than being full of himself without giving a thought of any consequences like purple guy.

The next Prodigy episode is out. I get it that these "greenhorns" are learning how to behave but it's rough to experience the dumb decisions they all make.
But at least Janeway is Janeway and drinks her coffee, even as a hologram.

I REALLY, REALLY hope Dal changes his attitude. Whenever that dumb smirky face shows up I want to toss him out of the airlock.
The rest is fine although their compliance is also somewhat grating.
At least we got an evil Janeway for a short moment this episode.

Finally. I need a palette cleanser from watching the dumpster fire that's called Star Trek Picard.

I'm not sure how they convinced their guest star to join in episode 3, but dang, they did it.

Re: Space. The Funnest Frontier?
That was quite insane. The episode before that was also excellent with Martok's appearance in a "VHS Boardgame"-style game in resemblence of "A Klingon Challenge" (has the same actor who played Gowron).

Episode 4: If you're going to pick a TNG episode to poke fun at, that one is definitely a pro choice. And another Animated Series riff!

Re: Space. The Funnest Frontier?
They did at least one thing fun about one of the worst TNG episodes. I really do hate the "ancient mask and transform the whole ship into a weird temple" episode.

The performances in that episode are great but oh boy I cannot connect with the plot.

So far, Lower Decks has been killing it this season.
And, uh, then there's episode 7. That sure was... an episode.

This episode had some traumatizing images teasing my brain to imagine even more traumatizing images.
Over all things this episode was a good one.

Re: Space. The Funnest Frontier?
BTW: I grabbed the Lower Decks #1 comic from my enormous "to read" pile and it's fantastic too. It's written by Ryan North, who writes the Dinosaur Comics webcomic, has written a good chunk of the Adventure Time comics, and the whole Squirrel Girl series.
It is on point funny, clever, as (or more) reference-y, and has his signature funny comments at the bottom of the page.
I give it good recommendation.
Maybe it's more worth buying it when there is a trade paperback of this story.

Prodigy has gotten a lot better. This week's episode was a riot.

Re: Space. The Funnest Frontier?
Prodigy's latest episode was super meta weird and was great.
It's somewhat related to the Voyager episode where Torres and Kim got stranded on a planet and they supplied ship logs to the locals that created Greek style theater scrips.

Re: Space. The Funnest Frontier?
I have no opinion about Strange New Worlds. I'm still marred by Discovery and Picard. I need time to heal from live-action Star Trek.

Re: Space. The Funnest Frontier?
It's a kids' show, so it has some annoying parts, but by the end of season 1, they had some pretty solid Star Trek stories, and season 2 has been consistently good.DaikatunaRevengeance wrote: ↑Mon Nov 14, 2022 8:24 amhow is prodigy? rough start but doing good now?
I've only seen the first half of it, but it's at least 85% of a classic Trek show so far.DaikatunaRevengeance wrote: ↑Mon Nov 14, 2022 9:47 amAlso, while i'm at it:

Re: Space. The Funnest Frontier?
Holodeck episodes were always BS in Star Trek but Prodigy achieved probably something in the latest episode that does not feel like a cheap cop-out for doing literally anything for shits and giggles. There was an aspect in this episode but it was character-driven for a great effect. It felt tons more mature than any TNG holodeck escapade.
